Unmarked police car pulling over a person who thought “Bus Only” was a suggestion.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:35 |

Now that’s just rude! They’re always supposed to be domestics, or marked.

The NYPD laughs at your pitiful assumptions.
Here’s a Nissan Rogue attempting to pull someone over on this bridge leading to a highway:

I don’t know how they get people to pull over for them. If some jackass in a gray Camry tries pulling me over, I’m calling 911 and reporting someone impersonating an officer.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:41 |

Lol most people in NYC don’t want to add “Evading and eluding” to whatever ticket they were about to get for being in a Bus Lane.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:42 |

In MI or where I live in ND those type of vehicles pulling that are assumed to be fake cops. You are supposed to call 911 and have them check if they are real or not (unmarked pulling over someone normally is a big no-no).

Details details. The

is what I mean...
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:43 |

They also have Taxis as unmarked cars. It’s a regular thing in NYC.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:43 |

Stuff like this is why the NYPD is looked down upon. Pulling stuff like this leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:45 |

Yeah I know it’s like that in most places but in NYC it’s assumed to be legit, especially in Manhattan.
Basically if you try this with the NYPD you better keep driving to Mexico because once they catch up to you the ass beating you’re going to receive (if you’re not pumped full of bullets first) is going to be pretty severe.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:45 |

I see that on I5 between Portland and Seattle all the time, but it’s always the unmarked domestics - there’s a beige Mustang or few, a black Edge, probably more than one, there used to be some white vans of some kind.. but they’re all Fords or Chevy’s.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:46 |

It’s common in NYC. They even have Taxis that are cop cars.
Raleigh PD by me has some Camry’s, some Chrysler 200s, and the sheriff has a corvette for the highway division.

Sneakiest one I’ve seen in NY was a black Kia minivan, it looked identical to an uber
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:48 |

Unfortunately it’s our reality. I’ve seen these guys in everything from tinted out Infiniti G37x to a 2007 Honda Accord Sedan with the blue/white lights flashing while pulling someone over.
Also most recently, I saw a level 1 mobilization (when a lot of cops are called to one area like more than 10 cop cars) and in that I saw the following unmarked cars:
Jeep Cherokee (3 of them!)
VW Jetta
Chrysler 200
All 3 of those cars are cars I would NEVER expect to be cops, but lo and behold.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:49 |

In MI, those vehicles are the target of angry former GM emplyees’ bullets.

What next, a Hyundai Tiburon?

If I were Trump, I would build a wall around NYC city limits, cheaper and more effective.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:50 |

See my other post, they are now getting FCA and VW cars too so be aware.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:50 |

At least if you saw a Jetta behind you, you can just wait a moment for it to break down and drive off.

News story from Novi: 60 yr old Novi Cop (GM early retirement...) gets pissed at Fake Toyota Camry Cop Car pulling over and robbing women in Ford Escapes. Fake cop and car played catch the shiny bullet 13 times (cop’s sidearm jammed). Camry dumped into Detroit River at Zug Island. Interview with Novi cop at 11:00 on WXYZ.

Back when CCC was next to the Holland Tunnel, I’d see all manner of unmarked cars using the police-only access road. Definitely a few Jetta, Jeeps, a couple Subaru Legacies, etc...
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:56 |

I like how there is an identical civilian Camry in that image.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:57 |

In my town there is a Ford F-250 with a camper in the back that’s a police car. I saw it pulling people over.

I remember a friend telling me (he was an EMT) that after 9/11 he started noticing all kinds of different cars, personal or otherwise, being kitted up with full lights & sirens, making it impossible to tell law enforcement cars apart. Not a bad strategy if you think about it.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:57 |

WA State Patrol has three of these. One green, black and blue. They’re really hard to spot.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:58 |

I don’t know why they’d need anything THAT quick... Unless they were infiltrating a mad tyte KDM crew of course.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:58 |

Crazy stuff for sure. I’m usually very good at detecting them, sort of a 6th sense but these new makes/brands definitely throw me off. I wouldn’t hesitate to pass a Chrysler 200 or a Jetta but who knows now.

President Trump better watch where his injection pod lands...
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:59 |

Yep at least 7 out of 10 taxis here are Camry Hybrids which is what makes this cop car even more stealth as we have been ingrained to assume it’s probably a taxi.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:59 |
|
It seems like they’re typically base models, fairly well maintained, and usually grey or black, but that doesn’t exactly narrow it down
![]() 06/30/2016 at 12:59 |
|
Now that’s just plain mean.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:00 |
|
Lol funny enough the Jeeps were all grey or black, the jetta was black and the Chrysler 200 was grey. Maybe you’re onto something. Now as far as the well maintained, I’ll assume it was because they were new because most of the unmarked Impalas I see are beat to shit.

Don’t NY emergency vehicles need red flashing lights? I thought blue only was for volunteer firefighters and the like. My NY driver training said you should give way to those, but you’re not legally required to do so (vs must pull over for red lights, and shouldn’t pull over for yellow lights).

YESSSS! Make Jersey pay for it too!
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:02 |

Not a bad strategy for catching bad guys but for a good citizen like myself it’s just one more thing to stress me out on the road. “Is that Camry tailgating me a cop? Should I move over? Am I going too fast/slow?”
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:03 |
|
Unless you saw light, those could also just be officers private vehicles. They are too good to take the train in from the suburbs like everybody else.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:03 |
|
They have a huge jurisdiction, with millions of people. Of all things to get mad at the NYPD for this is pretty small.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:05 |
|
If they REALLY wanted to blend in, they would put a chrome bull bar on the front, stick on portholes, and cheap rims on their unmarked cars
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:05 |
|
Even has a dealer license plate frame. NYPD may be a corrupt train wreck sometimes, but they get an “A” for attention to detail here. I am sure the budget for this kind of thing is hilarious, but that’s moot.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:09 |
|
Many of them were, but there were still a good amount of unmarked cars as well. Also a few insane armored trucks which were cool to see

Some cops don’t get overtime
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:19 |

There’s a police only parking area on the south side of 35th (?) st on the west side. You’d be surprised. I think most are probably confiscated from illicit gains.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:43 |

There is a license plate frame on the one in the picture. That alone would be enough to throw me off, and its just as gaudy as what you mentioned.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:49 |
|
Not sure what lights they need but all these unmarked cars blink red white and blue. I only said blue and white because the tail lights are already red and flashing.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:50 |
|
I bet they are, the ultimate beigemobile = the most stealthy cop car.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:51 |
|
Ah, yeah I was just surprised that they would be only white/blue.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 13:59 |

I’d happily pay for it, if it kept the trash on their side of the wall.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 14:03 |

Wait, what are we counting Staten Island as? I know it’s
technically
the city, but is it really? You can have it. For what it’s worth, the dump doesn’t smell as bad as it did when I was a kid. Actually smells better than most of Jersey. Or might just mask the smell of bronzer and hairspray. Not sure.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 14:12 |
|
Well, yeah that was kind of my reaction at the time. But I almost never drive in NYC since I live about 250 miles away. Anyway...
Our local police department has a blue F150 though, of which there are approximately 1.54 billion others out there. So that makes it hard, even in a small town where, when you pass one police car you know you have the rest of the town to yourself.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 14:16 |
|
From what I see it’s similar is other places except it’s mostly domestic vehicles and not Japanese/German cars. Just another thing to keep an eye out for. I don’t drive in bus lanes anyway.
![]() 06/30/2016 at 19:25 |
|
That is yours to keep. Hell I’d throw in to build a wall double the height for that dump.
The only bad smelling place I’ve ever smelt in NJ is going over the Driscoll and I can only attest that to the garbage driving down from the city.
You do realize the bronzer and hairspray is only NYer’s? The show the Jersey Shore was made up of Staten Island dumpster fire of a cast.
![]() 07/01/2016 at 07:45 |
|
Staten Island, Upstate, and Long Island don’t really count as the city. Really, the dump’s not as bad as it used to be. When I was a kid and it was still in use, you could smell it over a mile away. I was almost upset that I couldn’t smell it when I drove through SI for the first time in forever last year.

I’ve seen that Corvette parked on I440 after pulling someone over. That was a glorious sight.
